The Race Committee made legs on Division 2 longer for both classes and they are sailing Course 4. The C&C are doing a 1.3 nm windward leg while the J/70’s are racing a 1.0 nm windward leg.
The start of the C&C 30’s was almost clean with Anema & Core over early.
There was a pack of J/70’s that tried to jump the start and had to come back including Empeiria, Black River Racing, Black Seal, Hot Mess, Button Fly, Sparkle, Hooligan and Savasana.
Glen Darden with Jonathan McKee calling the shots on Hoss won the first race of Quantum Key West Race Week for the J/70’s. Marty Kullman on New Wave was second followed by the Italian team Calvi Network. Tim Healy with John Mollicone on New England Ropes edged out Peter Duncan on Relative Obscurity for fourth and fifth.
The C & C 30’s had a close finish with Extreme 2 beating Roxanne in a picture perfect finish. Third place was Don’t Panic.
Race Committee is setting up to start Race 2
A great start for Race 1 on Division 2 with “All clear” for both classes. Race is underway and wewill give you a Mark 1 report soon!
Extreme 2 went around mark 1 first followed by Don’t Panic and Roxanne.
Glenn Darden’s Hoss rounded the top mark for the J/70’s first with Marty Kullman and New Wave in second. Calvi Network rounded third followed by Cool Story Bro and Tim Healy’s Marlow Ropes.
Race 1 for Division 2 is course 4 at 125 degrees with C&C 30 sailing 1.2 nautical mile windward leg and the J/70’s have a .8 nm windward leg.
Division 2 has completed 2 practice starts and the boats are on their way back to the starting line for a short practice race.
Division 2 Race Committee is anchoring in preparation for the practice race for the C&C 30’s and the largest fleet in the regatta, the J/70 class. The first gun is scheduled for 1300 with a few practice starts and then a practice race.
